ALS LEAD SHIELDING PANELS

Amendment 2 is hereby issued to this RFP on June 27, 2025 to:

1. Revise "06 AL-1790-6401A ALS-U SR New Lead Panel Structural Steel Sheet List" to DRAFT REV. B

2. Revise "08 AL-1791-1369B Statement of Work" to DRAFT REV. C

3. Revise "09 Attachment A ALS Lead Shielding Panel Pricing and Delivery Matrix" to REV. 1 

*PLEASE ENSURE Attachment A REV. 1 is the document included with you finalized RFP submission*

4. Revise "10 Sample SubK Lead Shielding Panels" to REV. 1

5. Add "ALS Lead Shielding - Basis of Design AL-1816-3759"

*The DRAFT Documents noted above are presently routing through LBNL internal approvals process and are not anticipated to change under a finalized award.

Below is a brief summary of the specific changes to the Statement of Work:

1. Removed the potential for a (2) batch or (2) award approach. LBNL now intends to make (1) award for the complete lot of panels.

2. Addition of consultation services during installation.

3. Updates to the schedule. 

4. Clarified that the current drawings are at the 95% design stage.

5 . Minor language clarifications throughout.

All other terms of this RFP remain the same.

Amendment 1 is hereby issued to this RFP on June 10, 2025 to extend the Proposal Due Date until July 9, 2025.

An Amendment 2 will be issued on or about June 27, 2025 to accomplish the following 2 Items in additional detail:

Item 1) Clarify that the design drawing set provided by LBNL is currently at 95% completion, not 100%. LBNL will issue 100% drawings based on subcontractor recommendations as described in SOW Section 3.2.1.1. Additionally, the panel widths in the 100% drawings may increase or reduce in size by up to 1” based on as-built measurements being performed by LBNL; height and thickness of the panels will remain unchanged.  

Item 2) Add project management support scope - to be further defined in the revised SOW - as a priced option after panel delivery. This support would cover consultation during installation and panel handling & storage requirements.

Project Definition – ALS-U Storage Ring Lead Panel Shielding

Completion of 95% Drawings. Fabricate and install new lead panels to the inside face of the storage ring outer precast walls to 
improve radiation shielding performance. This project is part of the Advanced Light Source.  Upgrade storage ring shielding. The structural design and anchorage detailing for the new lead shielding panels is based on the current ASCE 7-16, California Building Code (CBC), 2019  edition, Part 10 (California Existing Building Code, University of California Seismic Safety Policy, Geotechnical Data and Interpretation Report and Site-Specific Seismic Hazard Analyses and Development of Design Ground Motions Report. The seismic analysis and retrofit design of the existing structure have been performed in a previous task. The design considers the combination of gravity and seismic loading resisted by the anchorage to the precast walls.
