The Nashville District of the US Army Corps of Engineers is in need of product designs and construction for two coupled steel work barges to support Lake Cumberland Debris Removal Operations. The coupled barge unit will be approximately 75 feet long by 36 feet wide, and with a hull depth of 5 feet. The barges will support a material handling grapple on a 46-50 feet long telescoping knuckle boom picking up 2,000 lbs. of material at full reach. The barges will also be outfitted with a small deckhouse and tool room, generator, fuel tanks and a GFE woodchipper and dumpster. Drawings and calculations shall be submitted to the Government for review and approval. The coupled barges shall be designed in accordance with the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) Class requirements for ABS Maltese Cross A-1 Barge, River Service, Reinforcement B.
