Closed Solicitation · DEPT OF DEFENSE
AI Summary
The Department of Defense is seeking proposals for the Flying Fox Sensors, a Wireless Intrusion Detection System to enhance data loss prevention and device detection within the SAPF. This includes hardware and a one-year software support package. Proposals should align with JSIG standards for monitoring unauthorized wireless connections.
This is a new requirement and is needed by the Network Operation engineers as this will aid in taking a proactive approach in
data loss prevention by increasing accuracy of device detection locations and instances.
The Flying Fox Sensors purchase is for the Wireless Intrusion Detection System (WIDS) to detect and identify wireless devices
inside the SAPF. This will also help our security team in finding exactly where in the facility that these devices have been and
currently are. Wireless signals may radiate beyond the confines of organization-controlled facilities which is not good for
preventing data leakage. This is also to help us align ourselves better with the JSIG standards which states, "Organizations
should proactively monitor for unauthorized wireless connections, including scanning for unauthorized wireless access points at
least quarterly. Unauthorized wireless devices require reporting and response in accordance with the organization / system
incident response plan.
