The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) - St. Paul District has a 5-year services requirement for forest inventory to be conducted for forested lands on the Upper Mississippi River within the footprint of the USACE - St. Paul District. This inventory will provide foresters and land managers with site and stand specific information on diversity, forest health, structure and invasive species needed to make sound management decisions and plans. The forest inventory data collection utilizes a combined variable‐radius point sampling protocol to collect a variety of forest overstory metrics and a fixed‐area plot protocol to collect general information on understory trees and herbaceous communities. Variable‐radius plot data collected includes, but is not limited to, tree species, health, crown class, diameter, and basal area per acre as well as tree height and age on a small subset of canopy trees. Fixed‐area plot data collected includes canopy density, understory height, tree regeneration, and a general assessment of herbaceous plants. The Contractor will measure sampling points at locations identified by the Government while collecting actual geographic coordinate data at the center of each sampling point. Data will be collected based on the specifications listed in the sections below. The Contractor will then provide forest resource survey data in the digital format as required in the scope of work.
