    Description

Statement of Work Air flow testing for OR #1 in B106 at Bay Pines VHA GENERAL Overview At the request of the medical service at Bay Pines there is a desired change to have Bronchoscopy procedures done in Operating Room #1 of Building 106 at Bay Pines VHA. In order to do this the room pressurization needs to be changed from being a positive pressure room to a negative pressure room, with 100% fresh air and 100% exhausted air. It was determined by FMS staff that the infrastructure that supplies fresh air to the OR and exhaust air out of the OR can be adjusted to account for this desired change. However the valves that control the air flow that control room pressurization are a proprietary system that needs to have adjustments made by an authorized vendor for the company. As these changes are made to one room, that is a part of an air handler system that supplies air to the entire second floor of B106, all rooms associated with that air handler need to be checked to ensure these changes did not impact other spaces. This request is to have a pretest done to determine what the air flows (supply and return/exhaust air) are for each room before any changes are made. It will also check the air flow in each space after the change is made to this one room to ensure all rooms are still within spec. This request is being made as a sole source to Performance Air Balancing out of Cape Coral FL. This is due the proprietary air flow system used in B106. Performance Air Balance has the knowledge to work with this system and has previous experience in the B106 OR suite testing air flows and making changes to this critical space. Objective To support the request to move the location where bronchoscopy procedures are done by ensuring the air pressurization of OR#1 in Building 106 at Bay Pines VHA is set properly. Also to ensure that all the other rooms in the OR suite that are serviced by the Air Handler that supports are not affected by this change. Scope of Work The Contractor shall Complete a pretest and post adjustment test of 167 air distribution locations in Building 106 at Bay Pines in the OR suite on level 2. This will include the supply and return / exhaust air locations for associated with the Air handler for this floor. Included in this are at least 12 HELP grills, and 66 Phoenix air flow valves. 37 rooms will need air pressure readings taken. This work shall be done after hours or on weekends to not impact OR operations. This phase of the testing will be completed prior to adjustments to the phoenix valves associated with OR #1. There is no order for doing these tests in terms of location or type of air flow device. Post change testing will be immediately after phoenix representatives have completed making changes to the valves for OR#1, while they are still on site to allow for adjustments to be made if need be. The tests to be completed after the changes are made will be OR#1, supply and exhaust to confirm changes made are giving the proper results. Readings indicating that improper adjustment have been made will immediately be relayed to VHA staff to ensure feedback is given to Pheonix representatives while they are on site. Then other critical spaces in the OR suite will be checked to confirm no adverse effects as a result of the change to OR #1. Then all remaining spaces will be checked that are associated with the AHU.
