1. General:
Our facility is requesting a renewal software subscription for our previously
purchased versatile iN2L system which will continue allowing veterans to attend
virtual social and education groups including whole health, leisure education, and
virtual concerts presented by utilizing the bedside iN2L tablets and social group
interactions with the 75” and 23” large screen systems located in Brockton’s
building 4 and 7. This software will give therapists and restorative care technicians
the tools needed to engage veterans with multiple social games and applications.
Studies have shown that the largest barrier older adults experience with new
technology is complexity. With a simplified interface designed for an older
population our veterans will find it easy to reach out to others on the network as
well as make and receive video calls to family with the iN2L tablets. Once inperson
social events are a part of the veteran’s regular experience the system will
also provide opportunities to play social games such as chess, trivia, and touch
screen activities with other players on the 75” and 23” screens. This personalized
engagement will encourage and support active participation in rehabilitation and
socialization opportunities. Researchers have studied how the use of an
interactive digital display in patient populations with cognitive impairments
improves performance of activities in everyday life. Veterans will also be able to
use the TVs to connect to virtual appointments using a VVC and the My Healthy
Vet app.
