NAVFAC EURAFCENT requires a support in Maintenance, Inspection, and Testing (MIT) of weight handling equipment (WHE) and supporting rail systems in accordance with NAVFAC P-307 and NAVFACINST 11230.1. NAVFAC P-307 provides the uniform Navy program for the management, maintenance, inspection, testing, certification, alteration, repair, and operation of WHE at Navy shore installations and Navy owned WHE at non-Navy installations. Its purpose is to ensure the equipment is safe to operate; to ensure weight-handling operations are conducted safely and efficiently; and to ensure optimum equipment service life. NAVFAC P-307 also provides training and qualification requirements for military, civilian, and contractor personnel involved in the operation, maintenance, inspection, testing, and certification of Navy WHE. NAVFACINST 11230.1 provides inspection and maintenance management programs that will assist in evaluating the physical conditions and ensure safety of crane trackage at naval activities. NAVFACSYSCOM EURAFCENT supports the following installations: Naval Support Activity (NSA) Naples, Naval Air Station (NAS) Sigonella, NSA Bahrain, Naval Station (NAVSTA) Rota, Camp Lemonnier Djbouit, Naval Support Facility (NSF) Redzikowo, NSF Deveselu, and NSA Souda Bay and outlying areas supported by these installations.
