REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI): MARCHING BRASS INSTRUMENTS The Marine corps is seeking information on professional level marching brass instruments designed specifically for outdoor marching and performing use. Also, in terms of performance, durability, and reliability . This RFI is intended to identify other brands other than YAMAHA that provide these instruments. Supplies being sought Full horn line compliment of professional quality marching brass instruments pitched in traditional keys. Brass instruments to include: trumpet, mellophone, baritone and tuba. Marching Mellophone Salient Characteristics: • Instrument Specifications: Weight 3 – 4 lbs, 10” bell diameter, M 0.462” bore, nickel plated or nickel alloy pistons/valves, lead pipe material gold brass, bell material yellow brass and silver-plated finish. • Keyed in F • First valve thumb hook or ring for intonation adjustment • Heavy durable bracing throughout the design to withstand the rigors of travel and performance • Hand-fitted valves and slides to ensure a perfect seal between the valve pistons and casing or slide parts to achieve uninterrupted airflow and smooth action to improve response and intonation. Marching Baritone Salient Characteristics: • Instrument Specifications: Weight 5.5 – 6.2 lbs, 10” bell diameter, 14.5 mm bore, 3 pistons, body material yellow brass, and silver-plated finish. • Keyed in Bb • First valve thumb hook or ring for intonation adjustments. • Heavy durable bracing throughout the design to withstand the rigors of travel and performance. • Hand-fitted valves and slides to ensure a perfect seal between the valve pistons and casing or slide parts to achieve uninterrupted airflow and smooth action to improve response and intonation. Marching Tuba Salient Characteristics: • Instrument Specifications: weight 21 - 25 lbs, 19 11/16” bell diameter, 0.728” bore, size 4/4, front facing bell, 3 nickel-plated vertical action pistons lead pipe material gold brass, body and bell material yellow brass and silver-plated finish. • Keyed in Bb • Heavy durable bracing throughout the design to withstand the rigors of travel and performance • Hand-fitted valves and slides to ensure a perfect seal between the valve pistons and casing or slide parts to achieve uninterrupted airflow and smooth action to improve response and intonation. Marching Trumpet Salient Characteristics: • Instrument Specifications: weight 4.7 -5.4 lbs, 4 7/8” bell diameter, L 11.73 mm bore, gold brass reverse leadpipe, one piece gold brass bell, body material yellow brass, heavy weighted and silver-plated finish. • Keyed in Bb • Heavy durable bracing throughout the design to withstand the rigors of travel and performance • Hand-fitted valves and slides to ensure a perfect seal between the valve pistons and casing or slide parts to achieve uninterrupted airflow and smooth action to improve response and intonation. • Modified angle of the branch tube to result in improved response and ideal resistance.
