Brief description:
The South Grand Chenier Baker Tract Marsh Creation (ME-32) project is located in the Mermentau Basin, Chenier Sub-Basin, and
Hog Bayou Watershed south of LA Hwy 82 and directly west of Rockefeller Wildlife Refuge. Material dredged from the Gulf of
America will be used to create and nourish approximately 466 acres of marsh in southwest Louisiana. Approximately 20,375 LF of
earthen containment dike will be constructed. The goal of the project is to create new wetland habitat, restore degraded marsh, and
reduce wave erosion of organic soils.
