AI Summary
The National Institute of Standards and Technology intends to noncompetitively acquire an infrared optical spectrum analyzer and maintenance services for a CAMECA LEAP 4000X-Si atom probe microscope. The required specifications include continuous spectral coverage from 1 um to 5.6 um with high resolution. Interested sources are encouraged to respond with their capabilities by the specified date.
This notice is not a request for a quotation. A solicitation document will not be issued and quotations will not be requested.
This acquisition is being conducted under the authority of RFO 12.102(a) The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 334516
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) requires a contractor to provide supply a service/maintenance coverage contract to maintain and repair a CAMECA LEAP 4000X-Si atom probe microscope, serial number 5020.
NIST conducted market research from February 2026 to April 2026 via Intenet searches, GSA searches, and a review of company websites to determine what sources could meet NIST’s minimum requirements. This included sources sought notice NIST-SS26-93 posted from March 24, 2026 through April 7, 2026. The results of that market research revealed that only Thorlabs, 56 Sparta Road, Newton, NJ 07860, USA (UEI: VCJKYBSL8DL8) appears to be capable of meeting NIST’s requirements per the following.
The contractor shall provide an optical spectrum analyzer (OSA) that must have continuous spectral coverage over the 1 um to 5.6 um wavelength range at high spectral resolution (2 GHz or better). This OSA must have both fiber and free space input options and a low noise floor of -85 dBm or better. This specification is necessary for both characterization of the metamaterial sensor and spectroscopic detection of drug molecules. This will be used to characterize sensors for drug detection at the infrared wavelength range, the OSA must provide a combination of broad spectral coverage, high spectral resolution, and low noise floor. Other sources/vendors cannot provide a combination of all three.
However, any sources that believe they are capable of meeting NIST’s minimum requirements are encouraged to respond to this notice by the response date to provide the following information at a minimum: Company Unique Entity Identifier number in https://sam.gov; details about what your company is capable of providing that meets or exceeds NIST’s minimum requirements; whether your company is an authorized reseller of the product or service being cited and evidence of such authorization; and any other information that can help NIST determine whether this requirement may be competitively satisfied.
