    Description

    The General Services Administration, Region 8, is initiating a project to remove approximately Thirty-two (32) electrical & data feeds and install nine (9) new power & data feeds and two (2) power only feeds, and remove and run new data cables to nine (9) existing locations In room 215 of the federal building Aberdeen South Dakota.     

    The contractor shall provide labor, materials, equipment and supervision necessary to perform:

    1. Pedestrian control:
      1. Contractor shall coordinate sequencing and control measures with the Project Manager and the Property Manager.
      2. Contractor shall provide barricades to prevent access of the public into the work areas; and shall protect the public at all times.
    2. Contractor shall demo all electrical wires & data cables and conduit running to the identified power feeds on the map as C (Cap).
      1. Electrical Wires and conduit shall be removed back to the nearest junction box and have knockout covers installed on all unused knockouts.
        1. Contractor shall reuse existing conduit, circuits, and wire to the greatest extent possible for new power drops.
        2. Contractor shall mark any unused circuits in the breaker panel as spare and mark all junction boxes with breaker panel location and circuit number.
      2. All dedicated circuits shall have wires demoed back to the breaker panel, and breaker marked as spare
      3. Contractor shall remove old data cabling back to the agency owned switch or patch panel located in the second floor wire closet.
    3. Contractor shall provide and install all new wire and conduit for Identified as P&D (power and data) and P (power) on the map
        1. Contractor shall reuse existing conduit, circuits, and wire to the greatest extent possible for new power drops
        2. Contractor shall verify reused existing circuits are not overloaded per NEC and P100.  
      1. All new power feeds shall be installed per NEC.
      2. Conductors #10 and below must be solid copper conductors.
      3. Contractor shall provide and install a new panel circuit directory. 
      4. Contractor shall provide and install circuit information labels on all outlet covers.
      5. Metal-Clad Cable may be used for portions of branch circuits not excluded below and that do not terminate directly at panel board.
        1. Metal-Clad Cable must be steel armored and not exceed #10 AWG.
        2. Metal-Clad Cable must be labeled a minimum of every three feet with 360 degree paint bands indicating number of conductors and voltage (either 480/277 or 208/120v) of conductors.
        3. Conduit systems must be used between the panelboard and the first wiring device.
        4. All Metal-Clad Cable runs must be provided with permanent typed labels at all deck-to-deck wall penetrations with tags indicating panelboard and circuit feed from.
        5. Individual Metal-Clad Cables must NOT contain more than three current carrying conductors to prevent having to derate the cables due to heat.
        6. Metal-Clad Cable must be secured to the structure as stipulated in the National Electric Code unless otherwise noted in this document. All cables must be secured within 12 inches of the cable termination device.
        7. Snap in type fittings must not be used. 
    4. The contractor shall provide and install two cables per location shown on map as K (keep) and P&D (power and data) for a total of thirty six (36) cables.
      1. Cabling shall be Leviton LM-RDT Cat 6A  UTP CMP (blue in color) cabling, no substitutions will be allowed. 
        1. Cabling supported by ceiling tiles is not permitted.
        2. All data cabling located throughout the building is required to be in a cable management system equivalent to a tray, conduit, etc. Hooks are allowed on data circuits of 20 or less.
    5. Contractor shall terminate all data cabling in floor boxes and at agency owned equipment in the IT closet, ports to be identified at time of installation.
    6. Contractor shall test all new data cabling and provide a certification report and Leviton warranty.
    7. Contractor shall provide and install appropriate floor boxes for new electrical and data cabling.
    8. Contractor shall Seal/fill all penetrations from removed conduit or wire with approved fire caulking
    9. Contractor shall provide updated drawings showing locations of all existing and new outlets with panel and circuit information for each location at the completion of the project.
    10. Disruptive or loud work will be required to be done after hours.
    11. Contractor to field verify all site conditions to include but not limited to quantities of materials and locations of feeds to be removed and new feeds.
    12. Replace and/or repair any damage caused as a result of this project to pre-construction condition; this includes, but is not limited

    to ceiling tile, carpet, or electrical conduit and wires.
