Project requirements: To provide on-call pickup and delivery of medications FROM Lexington VA Pharmacy located at 1101 Veterans Drive, Lexington, KY 40502 TO designated sites at the Leestown campus of the Lexington VA Medical Center at 2250 Leestown Road, Lexington, KY 40511. Most trips will be outside of normal business hours. (After 4:30 p.m., Saturdays, Sundays, and Holidays). Additional stops are required at different nurse s stations. The medications will be transported in a secured, locked bag as supplied by the pharmacy to the nursing station identified at Leestown campus, Patient information will not be seen by the driver. The driver will sign pick-up and drop-off log for each bag. Narcotics will not be transported by the Contractor. VA IT Security System Certification & Accreditation requirements do not apply; therefore a Security Accreditation Package is not required. In the event any Sensitive information is compromised, the ISSOs and Privacy Officers will be notified not later than one hour from the time the incident is discovered. The contractor will provide a driver and vehicle service between two locations on-call. Invoicing will be monthly (12 per year), and each invoice will be itemized by delivery event. Patient information must be protected in a confidential manner in compliance with Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations. Drivers must be fully licensed and insured. Pickup will be made at Pharmacy call window. Delivery address will be noted on each bag by building number. Pickup and delivery will occur be on-call. The delivery should arrive within 45 minutes of pickup time. Courier contactor personnel responsible for performing each pickup and delivery will signify completion of the task by signing the delivery ledger. The contractor courier must provide telephone contact information so that pharmacy personnel can inquire about the disposition/status of pickup and delivery events.
