    Description

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is conducting market research to identify qualified contractors capable of providing elevator assessment, repair, inspection, testing, and certification services for the Air Traffic Control Tower (ATCT) elevator located at Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU), Morrisville, North Carolina.

This Request for Information (RFI) is issued for planning purposes only and does not constitute a solicitation or a promise to issue a solicitation. Responses will be used solely to determine the availability and capability of qualified sources. Submission of a response to this RFI does not guarantee that a respondent will receive a Request for Proposal (RFP), Request for Quotation (RFQ), or any other solicitation, nor does it guarantee consideration for future procurement opportunities.

    Project Overview

The contractor would be expected to:

    • Assess and diagnose the existing elevator malfunction.
    • Provide all labor, materials, equipment, and supervision necessary to complete required repairs.
    • Perform all testing and inspections required to return the elevator to passenger service.
    • Obtain or support issuance of the required operating certification/permit.
    • Provide a written inspection report identifying any code deficiencies.
    • Recommend preventive maintenance and any future upgrades.
    • Provide a minimum one-year warranty on repairs.

The elevator is currently out of service due to inaccurate floor leveling and passenger entrapment incidents. A previous drive replacement did not resolve the issue. The Government's objective is to restore the elevator to safe, reliable operation and successfully pass the required annual inspection and five-year load test.

    • Furnish all necessary labor, tools, equipment, transportation, and materials required to complete the work.
