USCG AIR STATION SITKA COMMERCIAL INTERNET SERVICES

THIS IS A NOTICE OF INTENT TO AWARD A SOLE SOURCE CONTRACT AND IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE QUOTES.

The Government hereby submits a notice of intent to award a sole source firm fixed price award for the US Coast Guard Air Station Sitka Morale, Well-Being, and Recreation (MWR) commercial internet services in Sitka, Alaska. The vendor will be SPACE EXPLORATION TECHNOLOGIES CORP, 1 Rocket Road, Hawthorne, California 90250, UEI: H5JUPMRB3KX6. The period of performance will be September 1, 2025 – August 31, 2026, with four one-year options. The period of performance will expire on August 31, 2030, should all options be exercised.

This action is being awarded on a sole source basis pursuant to FAR 13.106-1(b)(1)(i), services required by the agency are available from only one responsible source and no other type of services will satisfy agency requirements. As a satellite internet service, all areas of Air Station Sitka have internet/wifi coverage, which is a challenge with wired internet services in remote areas of  Alaska.Starlink services are only accessible via Space Exploration Technologies Corp, as the hardware and software are proprietary to this vendor.

USCG Air Station Sitka, Sitka, AK 99835 will be the procuring entity for this effort. Performance will be located at Sitka, AK 99835. The Government intends to acquire commercial items and services using the provisions, clauses, and procedures prescribed in FAR Part 12 and FAR Part 13. The NAICS Code for this requirement is 517112.

This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotes. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact no later than 31 Jul 2025, at 1:00 p.m., Alaska time. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the government.
