Cargo Hold Hatch Cofferdam Drain Piping Crop & Renew
1. Purpose and Scope
. KTR shall renew necessary portions of the cargo hold hatch cofferdam drain piping
located in compartment 2-30-0-AA, Cargo Hold.
2. Deliverables and Performance Requirements
. Protective measures: The KTR must furnish and install all protective measures IAW
SFLC Std Spec 0000, paragraph 3.3.3 (Vessel component, space, and equipment
protection).
. Interferences: The KTR must handle all interferences IAW SFLC Std Spec0000,
(Interferences).
. Contamination prevention: The KTR must take all precautions to prevent
contamination of personnel and spaces IAW all applicable Federal, state, and local
regulations.
. Fluid handling: The KTR must remove and dispose of removed fluids from the
affected piping system, IAW all applicable Federal, state, and local regulations. Do not
drain any fluids into any spaced, bilge, or exterior location.
. Piping renewal particulars: The KTR must accomplish the following tasks, using
Coast Guard Drawing 225–WLB–528–001, REV K as guidance:
o Crop out necessary length of piping (3” & 2” diameter), to include all necessary
funnel pieces of the cofferdam system.
o Fabricate necessary piping arrangement previously cropped IAW CG Drawing.
o Install all fabricated piping to include all required gaskets/seals IAW CG
Drawing.
o KTR must provide a means of sealing any open piping while any portion of the
system is open (i.e.: upstream valve blind flange).
. Pipe hangers: Furnish, fit, and install new pipe hangers, as necessary.
. Pipe labeling: The KTR must label affected piping as follows:
o Name of the piping system service.
o Destination, where feasible.
o Direction of flow, indicated by an arrow three inches long pointing away from
the lettering.
. Leak Test: After completing all authorized mechanical (i.e. threaded, bolted, etc.)
joint repairs, the Contractor must test the affected piping system's operation using the
system fluid at normal operating pressure. Ensure zero visible leakage from or
deformation of mechanical parts by repairing all leaks and discrepancies.
. Touch-up preservation: The KTR must prepare and coat all new and disturbed
surfaces to match existing adjacent surfaces in accordance with SFLC Std Spec 6310,
(Touch-ups and minor coating repairs.)
. Piping insulation installation: The KTR must install new insulation materials over
the exposed pipe surfaces at thicknesses appropriate to the application and temperature
ranges specified in ASTM F683 Tables.
