    Description

    SOW for Steering Proportional Valve
    USCGC JAMES RANKIN (WLM-555)
    1. Background: Request product line procures replacement valve or fund overhaul of
existing valve. SF just completed a dockside availability and believes that there may have
been a misalignment with valves prior to energizing the Z-Drive system due to contractor
interference in the system. While op testing ships propulsion close to the conclusion of
the availability, ships force responded to failure of the port z-drives hydraulic
proportional valve and a major hydraulic fluid leak. Further troubleshooting suggests
internal seal failure. SFLC does not have any replacement Steering Proportional Valves
on hand and OEM is no longer in business. Cutter is currently unable to meet full
    operational commitments.
    2. SFLC engineering recommends replacing both Port and STBD Steering Proportional
Valves to be the same configuration
    3. Steering Proportional Valves to be configured IAW Controlled Enterprise Incorporated
