Ocracoke is only accessible via a NCDOT ferry and the schedule changes often. It will be very important to advise all bidding contractors that they will need to be at the ferry early - it takes about an hour and ½ to ride the ferry to get to Ocracoke, then about another 20 minutes from the ferry to drive to the project work site - housing. The schedule for the ferry is published online but changes.
