    Description

RFI s and VA Responses on 552-25-501 Install Compressor for SPS Cabinets Are the ceilings in Surgery hallway and the Surgery room where the cabinets are to be mounted on hard ceilings or accessible drop ceilings. VA Response: Hard ceilings. Are the ceilings in Endoscopy where the cabinets are to be mounted hard ceilings or accessible drop ceilings. VA Response: Drop ceilings. Can we obtain pictures of these areas? VA Response: Yes (Images 1-5 attached). Does the chase have any access panels, or will it need to be opened through drywall? VA Response: The chase will need to be opened through the drywall. For the containment in surgery we are assuming that needs to be solid wall (Edge Guard type) walls and not simply plastic sheets, please confirm. VA Response: Countermined. Please refer to the ICRA attached to this solicitation. Also, negative air is to be supplied, can this exhaust through Hepa filters to the hall? If direct exhaust of the filters is needed how can this be accomplished? VA Response: Negative air shall be exhausted to the exterior of the building, per Level IV control measures described the provided ICRA. Will the work in the surgical area be after hours? Also, the work in the scope room on the first floor, is that after hours? VA Response: As per paragraph 1 General 1.2 of the SOW, All work shall be coordinated and scheduled through the VA COR in accordance with Division 1 of the VA Standard Specification found in the TIL. All work shall be conducted during normal business hours (Monday to Friday, 0700-1700), excluding federal holidays, unless prior approval is obtained from the CO. However, some work will be approved for after hours to reduce interruptions in patient care. The contractor shall submit an RFI for approval from the CO and COR prior to after-hours work being performed. This appears to be an ICRA category B project in the surgical areas, can you confirm? VA Response: Activity Category determined to be D not B. Will core drilling be necessary to get the piping from the basement to the 1st floor scope room. Is this supposed to occur inside the wall? What if there is no access in the wall? VA Response: Please refer to drawings for areas that piping penetrates through the flooring. What should the terminations of the pipe to connect to the Endodry cabinets be? Typically, we see a basic ball the size of the piping with a threaded connection for the cabinets. VA Response: Please refer to specs section 22 63 00 for valve requirements. The term medical and instrument air are used in the SOW. We are assuming the air just needs to meet the clean air standards and not necessarily be classified as a medical gas. A medical gas would require multiple additional master alarm points which aren't mentioned in the scope. Please confirm. We do use a medical compressor company to supply compressors (that technically meets the provisions of Instrument air. VA Response: Highlighted in blue below. 1.1 ... suitable medical air compressor 2.1 ... instrument air compressor. The installation must comply with the current 2024 NFPA99 Standards for medical gas systems. The fresh air intake is not required for instrument error; the scope seems to indicate a fresh air intake is needed, please clarify. VA Response: Please follow requirements specified in the scope of work. Are we responsible to hire third party verifier/tester for final inspection? VA Response: Yes, the contractor is responsible for hiring third party verifier/tester for final inspection. Is a bid bond required for this project? Please specify the bonding requirements for this project; I see conflicting information. VA Response: A bid bond is not required since this solicitation is a Request for Quotes and not an Invitation for Bids. See the Bonding Information section in the RFQ Important Bidder Information regarding requirements for performance and payment bonds.
