The overall goals for the program are as follows:Accelerate the timeframe needed to educate and certify qualified individuals to join the nuclear energy workforce to meet the growing needs of the nuclear industry in Texas;Assist in the creation of new nuclear energy certification programs around Texas IHEs and technical schools.Increase the number of individuals completing nuclear-related training programs;Enhance collaboration between IHEs, the nuclear energy industry, and workforce development partners; andImprove career pathways and employment opportunities for individuals seeking careers in the nuclear energy sector.An Eligible Applicant under this RFA are IHEs that currently have nuclear energy training or a certification program in place and fall under one of the following categories: 1) a public junior college in Texas (as defined by Texas Education Code § 61.003(2)); 2) a public technical institute in Texas (as defined by Texas Education Code § 61.003(7)); 3) a public state college in Texas (as defined by Texas Education Code § 61.003(16));
