It is the intent of these specifications, terms, and conditions to describe detention mattresses being requested by the County.

The County intends to award a three-year contract (with the option to renew for two years) to the bidder selected as the lowest responsive and responsible Bidder whose response meets the County’s requirements.

Background

Alameda County is seeking to procure Chestnut Ridge, or approved equivalent, detention-grade foam mattresses with built-in pillows for use at Santa Rita Jail in Dublin. These mattresses will be utilized by both male and female individuals housed at the facility, which has an approximate average daily population of 1,400.

The County currently uses Chestnut Ridge brand detention mattresses as a standard. The mattresses must be fire- and fluid-resistant and include a built-in pillow to promote a safer environment by reducing the potential for concealment of contraband.
