    Description

The University of Iowa (hereafter, UI or the University) desires to obtain written proposals from qualified Vendors to provide Fire & Life Safety Consulting Services for the University, to include University of Iowa Health Care facilities (hereafter, UIHC). Due to the complexity of hospitals and the high level of regulatory oversight, UIHC expects this vendor to serve as the primary fire and life safety authority for projects led by UIHC Engineering Services, UIHC Capital Management, University of Iowa Facilities Management Design & Construction, and other departments managing construction, renovation, or infrastructure work. This role includes supporting design teams, reviewing compliance strategies, identifying risks early, and helping ensure projects remain aligned with National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, Joint Commission, and other applicable healthcare requirements. UIHC has determined that this work requires a consultant with specialized healthcare experience, deep knowledge of fire and life safety codes, and demonstrated ability to support complex hospital projects across all phases of work. To maintain consistency, reduce design rework, and avoid regulatory risk, UIHC requires this level of expertise from any firm seeking to provide these services and may designate a single qualified consultant to serve as the organization’s sole fire and life safety design consultant. However, due to the volume of active projects, the size and complexity of the UIHC physical environment, and the broad range of construction, renovation, infrastructure, and compliance needs across the enterprise, UIHC may also elect to engage multiple qualified consultants, provided each firm meets these same minimum standards and demonstrates the specialized healthcare fire and life safety expertise required by the organization. Please be aware that this is an extensive bid. All Suppliers are cautioned to allow ample time for the submittal of RFP responses well before the due date time requirement. Bids must be submitted via the eBid system.
