    Description

The new Betty’s Apple House experience will be rooted in the crossover between shopping and learning. Purchasing an apple is a choice informed by consumer information, comparisons between available varieties, and— perhaps most of all—by the sensory appeal of the fruit: taste, smell, and appearance. These are also the attributes that guide the work of people working behind the scenes at the Arboretum. The Betty’s Apple House Interpretive Exhibit will be the place where apples, trees, and people are drawn together in a remarkable story of food cultivation. Within the new Betty's Apple House facility, the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum is planning a cohesive indoor/outdoor interpretive experience about apple production—from plant breeding to growing and harvesting. We are seeking a local exhibit fabrication firm to design, fabricate, and project manage the interpretive displays and interactive elements. The University of Minnesota Landscape Arboretum is seeking proposals for the development and fabrication of a museum exhibit about the science and culture of apple breeding and production, to be installed at a new hybrid educational/retail facility called Betty’s Apple House. Phase I must be installed by July 2027, and Phase II must be installed by April 2028. Respondents are prohibited from contacting the identified department about this RFP while in process.
