AI Summary
The District of Columbia DGS seeks architectural/engineering services for the renovation and expansion of Engine House 15, including potential vertical expansion and adjacent parcel study. This RFP includes design services for a public safety facility modernization with key dates in July and August 2026.
General work description:
The District of Columbia (the “District”) Department of General Services (“DGS” or the “Department”), on behalf of the Fire and Emergency Medical Services (“FEMS”), is issuing this Request for Proposals (“RFP”) to solicit the services of an architectural/engineering (“Architect/Engineer” or “A/E”) firm to provide professional design services for Engine House 15 located at 2101 14th Street SE, Washington DC 20020 (the “Project”).
The Department seeks to deliver a significant renovation and expansion of the existing District-owned facility, with new construction of second-story addition. The preferred approach is to renovate and expand the current structure on the existing site, including a potential vertical expansion (second story). If updated program requirements cannot be fully accommodated within the current parcel (SSL: 5781-0994) and building envelope, the Project may expand onto the adjacent District-owned parcel (SSL-5781-0998) located directly behind Engine House 15 to provide additional capacity to include apparatus bay, living quarters, and parking. (See attached DC Property Quest information for current and adjacent parcels). This design package will be designated as the “Adjacent Parcel Expansion Study”.
