Rockaway Development & Revitalization Corporation, Inc. (RDRC) is seeking proposals from qualified architectural firms to provide professional design services for the renovation and adaptive reuse of the historic, vacant O’Kane Building, located at 21-17 Mott Avenue in Far Rockaway, Queens. The project will transform the five-story, approximately 10,000-square-foot structure into the Rockaway Music, Arts & Cultural Center (RMACC), a community-serving cultural hub featuring performance space, youth programming areas, and administrative offices. RDRC seeks an architectural partner capable of providing comprehensive services throughout the full design and construction process, including pre-design analysis, schematic design, design development, construction documents, bidding support, and construction administration. Respondents should demonstrate relevant experience with commercial, mixed-use, community, cultural, or adaptive reuse projects in New York City and should be prepared to coordinate code compliance, structural and MEP requirements, cost estimating, scheduling, and permitting considerations. Due to the project’s funding source, strong consideration will be given to New York State-certified M/WBE, DBE, and SDVOB firms. Proposals will be accepted until Friday, August 28, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. Questions may be directed to info@rdrc.org. Interested respondents may request a PDF copy of the existing architectural plans and a detailed description of the RMACC project by contacting kalexander@rdrc.org. Electronic submissions, including all supporting documentation, should be sent to kalexander@rdrc.org with the subject line RMACC BID.
