Project Introduction Notice is hereby given that Barton County, Kansas is soliciting quotes for bridge repairs at the following locations: #1 - Stone Arch Bridge located on NE 230 Road 0.13 miles south of NE 50 Avenue. The project consists of removal of overburden on the existing arch and construction of a new reinforced concrete pavement measuring 24’ in length and 24’ wide. Upon completion of the pavement, the new pavement with be transitioned to existing grade with surfacing material supplied by the County. The pavement will be 8” thick and reinforced with #5 bars or better at 12” centers, each way. #2 - Bridge 218 located on NE 220 Road 0.11 miles west of NE 60 Avenue. The project includes construction of a new reinforced concrete base for the existing two span stone arch bridge. The new base will measure approximately 36’ in length and 24’ wide and be reinforced with #5 bars or better at 12” centers, each way. Considerable undermining of the existing footing has occurred. A “toe wall” needs to be constructed at each end of the existing structure and backfilled with stabilization material supplied by the County. Slab thickness of the base will be a minimum of 8”. Upon completion of the base, the new base will be backfilled to existing grade with onsite material. #3 – Low Water Crossing #125 on NW 130 Road 0.04 miles east of NW 50 Avenue. The project includes removal (concrete and corrugated metal pipe) and saw cutting of a portion of the existing low water crossing and construction of a new reinforced concrete low water crossing measuring 28’ in length and 24’ wide. Also included is installation of a new corrugated metal pipe supplied by the County. Additionally, the new pipe will be beveled on both ends and a concrete “apron” will be poured around the end to minimize future erosion. Upon completion of the pavement, the new pavement will be transitioned to existing grade with surfacing material supplied by the County. The pavement will be 8” thick and reinforced with #5 bars or better at 12” centers, each way. Vendor to provide all equipment, labor, supplies, insurance, and incidentals necessary to complete the work.
