    Description

The Mt. San Antonio Community College District (District) is seeking project-specific proposals to provide full service architectural design services for its building 67 A/B renovation project. This Request for Proposals (RFP) describes the project, scope of services, consultant selection process, and minimum information that must be included in the proposal. This RFP will request each Firm to state concisely its qualifications for participating in a successful partnership.

The design, construction and equipment phases of the project is funded by the bond Measures GO and V.  This Project involves a full A/E services for the renovated facility, including design phase, bid, construction, and closeout phases of the facility.

The Project consists of the following of one building with the following main elements:

    • 29,469 Gross Square Foot (GSF) Educational space, classrooms, laboratories, offices, meeting rooms, storage rooms and other spaces defined in the Feasibility Study.
    • Site work, infrastructure and demolition, including coordination with the adjacent facilities is anticipated.
    • Implementation of the objectives of the campus-wide projects identified in the Mt. SAC 2035 plan, integration of sustainability and implementation of the vision, goals, and strategies of the Mt. SAC Climate Action Plan as applicable to this specific Project, and incorporation of wayfinding for the new building.

    Background

Buildings 67A and 67B were constructed in 2005 and have served as important instructional facilities for the campus. After nearly two decades of continuous use, the buildings exhibit significant wear and tear, including outdated finishes, furnishings, equipment, and building systems that have reached or exceeded their recommended service life.

A recent facility assessment identified critical deficiencies across information technology (IT), audiovisual (AV), and maintenance and operations (M&O) systems. Existing infrastructure includes aging cabling and fiber networks, HVAC equipment, lighting systems, and AV technologies that no longer meet current campus standards or support evolving instructional and operational requirements. In addition, interior finishes and furnishings have deteriorated and require modernization to improve functionality, accessibility, and user experience.

The Technology and Health programs currently occupying Building 67 are anticipated to relocate in 2027, creating a strategic opportunity to comprehensively renovate the facility prior to future occupancy. The proposed project will modernize building systems, utilities, technology infrastructure, and interior spaces to enhance safety, energy efficiency, operational reliability, and adaptability for future academic programs.

Investment in the renovation of Buildings 67A and 67B will extend the useful life of the facilities, maximize the value of existing campus assets, and reduce the long-term need for replacement through new construction.
