The primary access to the training facility utilizes the existing access road from South Battlefield Boulevard that currently provides access to the existing fire station and police precinct. As staff and visitors approach the academy training facilities, they are welcomed with a tree-line street that leads to the academy training facilities and classroom buildings. Parking areas are conveniently located near each cluster of buildings and activity areas. Outdoor spaces, including the classroom quad, are distinguished by lawn, trees, and associated understory shrubs – helping to balance the built-form/buildings and hardscape areas. The outdoor training facilities are laid out in a suburban street grid to replicate real world scenarios commonly found in the region. The driver training pad and indoor firing range facilities are located at the west side of the training facility area and are further buffered from the remainder of the site via landscape berms to reduce high sound levels. There is also a secondary access to the training center area via Saint Brides Road. To keep the academy facilities safe, the area is enclosed by fences with the two secured entrance areas with gates that can be opened via keycard/access codes by registered users.
