    Description

The milling and resurfacing of an asphalt paved road measuring approximately 4,974 square yards. The rehabilitation of the roadway begins with using a milling machine to remove the top 4.5 inches of the distressed asphalt wearing course and a portion of the underlying aggregate base. This milled material is hauled and disposed of off-site, while the newly exposed base is proofrolled to identify localized base failure areas. Any identified failures are saw-cut, excavated, and patched using Type B Hot Mix Asphalt Concrete (Black Base). Following a thorough cleaning of the surface to ensure proper adhesion, a prime coat is spray-applied to the base course before placing and compacting a 2-inch asphaltic concrete level-up course. Install reinforcing grid and tack coat on leveling course. Tack coat is applied to facilitate bonding for a 2.5-inch surface course, which is compacted to the specified in-place density. Striping and signage shall be installed per the engineering plans before the road is opened to traffic. Additional improvements are proposed near the intersection of South Shore Drive and Narcissus Road; the improvements include removal of existing storm sewer system and replacing with a reinfoced concrete pipe storm sewer as shown on the plans.
