    Description

The Save Tarrant Water Landscape Consultation Program is a sustainable landscaping consultation program focused on providing homeowners with water efficient landscaping advice for their home landscapes. Interested Tarrant County residents request a landscape consultation, then an expert consultant visits the home to survey the landscape to provide advice and answer the homeowner’s questions.

    Background

The mission of TRWD’s conservation department is to educate and bring awareness to the importance of water conservation, particularly outdoor water use associated with residential landscaping. At other conservation classes and events, there are commonly very specific questions about a participant’s home landscape. The home visits and ability to talk one-on-one with an expert this program offers fulfills that common need for customized advice. The program would broaden our outreach capabilities and further our conservation goals by providing advice that reduces outdoor water use. The advice will also support overall sustainable landscaping methods that reduce the use of chemical pollutants, decrease carbon footprint associated with traditional suburban landscaping methods, increase habitat for local native pollinators and other native wildlife, and result in other positive environmental outcomes.
