    Description

    The State University Construction Fund is seeking statements of qualifications from firms to provide Construction Manager (CM) Agency – Construction Phase Services for the Renovate Plant Science Building project at the New York State College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Cornell University. The Project includes the comprehensive renovation of the Plant Science Building to provide state-of-the-art laboratories and support spaces for the School of Integrated Plant Science (SIPS). Plant Science, constructed in 1930, is a 172,556 GSF, four- story building that has received few updates since its original construction. The interior finishes, laboratory equipment, and mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems are at the end of their useful lives. The College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) has recently combined five separate academic departments into one unified community. The Project will provide modern and flexible laboratory spaces that support various types of research in a collaborative manner and create a central space in the building where SIPS research can be publicly displayed. The Project is being executed in phases. Phase 1 of the project included the renovation of the West and Central wings of the building. Phase 2 of the project will complete the East and North wings of the building including demolishing interior walls, finishes and abating hazardous materials. This phase will also install new mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection systems, replace exterior windows, perform selected repairs to the exterior façade, and restore significant architectural elements. Phase 2 also includes a new passenger/service elevator and new rooftop mechanical equipment will be constructed to serve the renovated spaces. Submissions should emphasize the firm’s significant past experience in providing construction phase CM services for public institutions and institutional clients in a complete and expeditious manner. Construction duration from the Notice to Proceed to Substantial Completion of the construction contract is approximately thirty-seven (37) months (thirty-four (34) month construction duration plus three (3) month closeout period) The current estimated construction budget is approximately $53,690,000.
