    Description

Office of Judicial Administration ("OJA"), the administrative office for the Kansas Judicial Branch is seeking competitive proposals from qualified vendors to provide credit history reports to be used for employment purposes for Kansas Judicial Branch employees and applicants with positions that require fiscal responsibility. OJA seeks to include credit history reports as a component of the hiring and retention process for such positions to help identify potential vulnerability, ensure prudent stewardship of judicial funds, and uphold the integrity of court operations. A key investigative tool is a thorough credit report. In addition, OJA is seeking competitive proposals from qualified vendors to provide credit history reports to be used for applicants seeking admission to the Kansas bar and for purposes of discipline and disbarment of attorneys. The Kansas Supreme Court is granted authority to establish rules for application for admission to the bar of Kansas and for the discipline and disbarment of attorneys in accordance with K.S.A. 7-103. The Kansas Supreme Court Rules relating to the admission of attorneys are enumerated in Supreme Court Rules 700-726. Kansas Supreme Court Rule 712 sets out the rule for Character and Fitness Qualifications. Kansas Supreme Court Rules relating to the discipline of attorneys can be found in Supreme Court Rules 200-240. Whether an individual is being investigated for initial admission to the bar or potential discipline after admission, financial responsibility is a paramount concern.
