    Description

Differential settlement of the exterior equipment yard foundation with respect to the CS3 main building is occurring, which is stressing multiple rigid connections such as conduits, bus ducts, and piping between the structures. Two (2) 7.5MVA transformers and two (2) associated 12kV metal enclosed switchgear currently resting in the equipment yard will be removed in separate phases during construction and reinstalled on new foundations, while CS3 continues to operate. The transformers will be tested by the contractor prior to temporary removal. The subcontractors employed to complete new micropile foundations will be crucial to overall project success. The remaining area of the transformer enclosure will be designed as an open space with a new canopy roof of similar design to the existing. The existing wall enclosing the yard shall remain, but a section of the wall between two columns on the western face will be removed to facilitate construction operations and be replaced with a steel access gate. The entire project will be designed to be installed in two phases, to ensure CS3 normal operation during construction. The selective demolition, replacement and new construction consists of, but is not limited to, the following as indicated on the Drawings: a. Structural selective demolition of concrete foundations, roof canopy, and masonry walls.b. Structural concrete installation of equipment foundations, pilecaps, micropiles, and miscellaneous flatwork. c. Civil selective demolition for asphaltic and concrete paving, sidewalks, roadways, curbs and other features.  d. Civil excavation, grubbing, grading, paving and utility line extensions and replacements for damaged,   relocated or removed utilities.e. Electrical selective demolition and repairs. f. Electrical underground and overhead raceways and cabling. g. The rigging, testing, storage, installation, and reconnection of the existing equipment and materials. h. Testing of all equipment.
