    Description

The City of Laguna Niguel is requesting proposals from qualified firms to perform an assessment of the City’s current weed abatement practices on City-owned open spaces and determine the benefits and constraints of moving beyond existing Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) defensible space requirements. This Study will culminate in the development and delivery of a Defensible Space and Vegetation Management Report. The City’s current weed abatement program on City-owned open spaces includes hand and machine work, chemical vegetation control, and sporadic goat grazing for vegetation management. City-owned open spaces are comprised of various components, including parks, trails, open space corridors, greenbelts, hillsides, landscaping, and conservation areas. In total, the City performs weed abatement activities on approximately 44 acres in eleven areas across the City. All weed abatement activities performed are required to meet OCFA fuel modification guidelines by July 1 of each year.
