Dane County is seeking bids from qualified contractors for the Demolish Ferris Center, located at 2120 Rimrock Road, Madison WI 53713. After contract award, Contractor will "make safe" utilities in the structure and then provide the structure to Madison Fire Department (MFD) for training scenarios for thirty (30) days. Following MFD training event, awarded Contractor will demolish Ferris Center in accordance with drawings and specifications to include site restoration and erosion control permit close-out. Currently, the erosion control permit expires on 30 October 2026. The water meter has been removed from the facility as of 20 May 2026. Electric and gas have had disconnection requests filed with MG&E and are scheduled to be disconnected on 14 July 2026. This project is being delivered under a lump sum contract.
Work is expected to be performed in coordination with Dane County Public Works and the Madison Fire Department to enable training scenarios for MFD. Coordination w/ MFD will be through the Dane County Public Works Project Manager. Work must comply with all applicable county specifications, ordinances, local permitting requirements, or prevailing wage laws.
Interested vendors should have demonstrated experience in scope area - e.g., “demolition”, “site civil work in urban settings” and the ability to manage projects of similar size and complexity. A pre-bid meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, June 23, 2026 at 10:00 am at 2120 Rimrock Road - Ferris Center Parking Lot, and all questions must be submitted by Wednesday, July 1, 2026. Bid packages are due by Thursday, July 9, 2026 at 2:00 pm.

County’s Project Manager will make such investigations as are deemed necessary to determine ability of bidder to perform the Work, and bidder shall furnish to County’s Project Manager or designee all such information and data for this purpose as County’s Project Manager may request. Owner reserves right to reject Bid if evidence submitted by, or investigation of, bidder fails to satisfy Owner that bidder is responsible and qualified to carry out obligations of Contract and to complete the Work contemplated therein.
