Pursuant to §41-4-133 of the Code of Alabama, 1975, as amended, U.S. Space & Rocket Center Commission seeks qualifications from qualified professionals licensed in the State of Alabama to provide architectural and/or engineering services to support the installation of a new full-scale Saturn 1B Rocket model to be located at the Ardmore Welcome Center on I-65 (28232 Upper Elkton Rd, Elkmont, AL). This will be a replacement for the original Saturn 1B rocket which was removed in September of 2023. Project Scope of Work: The scope of work shall include professional design services for the site/infrastructure improvements required to support the installation of the Saturn 1B Rocket model. Anticipated improvements include but are not limited to structural (the rocket foundation, rocket mounting pedestals, determining the interface for the rocket), electrical(lighting, lightning protection), and civil/landscape improvements. The term of the agreement will be two (2) years, with an option to renew for two (2) additional years. The design services will be contracted under both fees and hourly rates in accordance with the Manual of Procedures of the State of Alabama Department of Finance, Real Property Management, Division of Construction Management (DCM). Qualifications: The Applicants shall demonstrate experience with similar projects and demonstrate familiarity with DCM’s procedures and forms for design and construction projects. The applicant shall include special consultants (as necessary) to demonstrate specific knowledge of NASA artifacts. Firms must agree to fully comply with the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986, as amended by the Immigration Act of 1990, and the Beason-Hammon Alabama Taxpayer and Citizen Protection Act. Architects and engineers should review and adhere to these guidelines as appropriate to their project type. §41-16-5 of the Code of Alabama imposes conditions on the award of state contracts.
