    Description

The School District of Greenville County (District) invites interested firms to submit QUALIFICATIONS to provide Architectural Design Services at the New (Replacement) Donaldson Career Center (DCC) for Greenville County Schools in accordance with the Specifications and Terms and Conditions of this solicitation.

Greenville County Schools is soliciting full service architectural and engineering design services for a new career center campus to replace the existing Donaldson Career Center. The new site is just South of the existing campus within the SC Technology and Aviation Center located in Greenville County off of Exchange Street (the former main gate at Donaldson Center). This new site includes approximately 18 Acres.

The intent is to award an Architectural firm a contract in April of 2026. Construction is targeted to start in January of 2027 and be substantially complete by June of 2029 so that the school facility can open for students in August of 2029.

Construction of the new building will be accomplished via the Construction Manager at Risk delivery method with a CM@R firm engaged during or after schematic level drawings.

A program was developed in advance of this solicitation, and has been provided for information purposes. The design process will include a site adaptation effort and confirmation of the Program in cooperation with the Director of Planning and Demographics and the Assistant Superintendent for Secondary Schools and Career Centers. The design will include approximately 100,000 SF (+/-) to provide state-of-the-art vocational learning spaces for students attending Greenville High School, Southside High School and Woodmont High School. The site will include circulation, parking and outdoor spaces to allow instruction to continue outside, where appropriate. The design aesthetic will be adapted to live in harmony with the surrounding community, and should in some manner communicate the heritage/history of the existing Donaldson Career Center.

GCS maintains a written design guide for its facilities and expects that the facility will be designed in accordance with all applicable codes and the guide while taking into consideration the unique educational nature of the facility and best practices for sustainability.
