    SCOPE The University at Buffalo (“University”) is seeking proposals for full executive search firm services (“Services”) under this Request for Proposal (“RFP”) to fill the Assistant Vice President for Infrastructure position within the University at Buffalo Information Technology (“UBIT”). The University’s goal is to have the full executive search services for this position completed, with the successful candidates having accepted an offer of employment by no later than July 2026. Recruitment for the pending position will occur through the VPCIO which oversees the central IT organization comprised of over 200 talented professionals working collaboratively with the distributed school/unit-based IT staff to provide and support campus use of information technology to achieve academic and professional aspirations of the University. The University Information Technology (“UBIT”) team works to meet the university’s needs and, as a result, is critical to student, faculty, and staff success. Incumbent for this position would serve as the primary leader dedicated to the Information Technology Infrastructure of the University, while providing vision, leadership, strategic planning, assessment, and supervision to all University departments. Estimated Salary Range: $210,000-$225,000 The Assistant Vice President for Infrastructure (AVP, Infrastructure) is a dynamic and visionary leader that is a strategic partner and advisor to the VPCIO. This is a VPCIO Cabinet leadership position that plays a pivotal role in shaping and growing our organization to align with and advance the university's goals. As a member of the VPCIO cabinet, you will ensure that our people, processes, and technology are equipped to support the university's mission. The AVP for Infrastructure directs special projects and strategic priorities as assigned by the VPCIO, spanning institutional planning, cross-divisional partnerships, and IT governance. This position serves as a senior thought leader in the university’s digital transformation efforts, proactively contributing towards the future direction of technology at the university. The AVP for Infrastructure provides strategic leadership for the Network and Communication Services (NCS) and Enterprise Infrastructure Services (EIS) units, ensuring UB’s network, cloud, data center, and core computer environments remain secure, reliable, and scalable, while advancing technologies, systems, and processes to meet UB’s goals. Working closely with campus partners and IT leadership, the AVP drives coordinated service delivery, continuous improvement, and infrastructure innovation that supports the university’s academic, research, and administrative needs. Key responsibilities include: Drive Strategic Alignment: Ensure that IT initiatives are closely aligned with the university’s strategic goals and mission, working with university leadership to shape, prioritize, and execute projects that support academic, administrative, and research objectives, while balancing divisional advocacy with institutional priorities and shared enterprise outcomes. Foster Synergies: Promote collaboration and synergy among departments in the portfolio; leverage strengths and expertise to create a cohesive, efficient IT environment that enhances performance and innovation. Build and Strengthen VPCIO: Build and strengthen the VPCIO organization in partnership with other AVPs and senior leaders, operating as an integrated leadership team; foster continuous improvement and ensure the organization is positioned to support evolving institutional needs. Innovate and Transform: Champion innovation and transformation—identify opportunities for technological advancements, process improvements, and new initiatives that move the university forward. Departmental Leadership: Provide strategic direction and oversight to the Network and Communication Service and Enterprise Infrastructure Units. This includes developing and implementing comprehensive strategies that align with the university's goals, ensuring effective workforce planning, and intentional professional development opportunities for team members. Foster a culture of accountability, continuous learning, and professional growth, building high-performing, motivated, and innovative teams capable of meeting both current and future institutional needs.
