    Description

The Saint Louis Zoo (“Zoo”) Animal Nutrition invites qualified local and regional farmers to submit proposals to establish a pool of farmers as Vendors of Record to provide regionally grown produce on an as-needed basis. The purpose of this Request for Proposals (RFP) is to establish a contract with qualified farm(s), agricultural cooperatives, or food hubs (hereafter referred to as the "Contractor") to supply high-quality, fresh, and safely grown produce. The Zoo reserves the right to make multiple contract awards to ensure seasonal availability, product diversity, supply continuity, and participation by local and regional producers. For purposes of this solicitation, "local" is defined as produce grown within 150 miles and “regional” is defined as produce grown within 300 miles of the Saint Louis Zoo. The Zoo seeks to increase procurement from local and regional producers, strengthen the regional food system, reduce transportation impacts, provide educational opportunities, and improve access to fresh seasonal products. Small, emerging, and family-owned farms are encouraged to submit proposals. This procurement shall be conducted using a Best-Value methodology.
