    The City of Carlsbad is soliciting proposals from qualified firms to provide the Carlsbad Green Business Program administration with the primary goals of promoting energy and water efficiency, waste reduction, green building materials, and sustainable and/or local purchasing within the City’s business community. The ideal consultant will have knowledge of existing programs in Carlsbad and other cities in the region, establish a clear understanding of relationships with the City and its unique business community, and implement a clear program framework. Since launching the program, over 60 businesses have been certified (including five city facilities). Every certified business has been recognized at an annual City Council proclamation, followed by an informal mixer with the growing green business community. City staff coordinate closely with the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce’s Green Business Committee, attending Chamber-sponsored events such as the annual Green Business Expo to promote the program.On November 12, 2024, the City Council approved the Climate Action Plan (CAP) Update, which outlines updated strategies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and promote environmental sustainability. The Carlsbad Green Business Program supports CAP strategies and measures by promoting energy and water efficiency, waste reduction, green building materials, and sustainable and/or local purchasing within the City’s business community.See Request for Proposal (RFP) for more information.
