The purpose of the Request For Proposals is to solicit applications from governmental and not-for-profit organizations for the Indian River Lagoon environmental projects. To help support Indian River Lagoon environmental projects, the Florida legislature established the Florida Indian River Lagoon license plate (Section 320.08058(10), Florida Statutes). Funds generated from sales of the license plates are used to support habitat restoration, water quality improvement, and associated education projects. The South Florida Water Management District (“District”) is responsible for administering Indian River Lagoon license plate funds for projects in St. Lucie, Martin, and Palm Beach counties.
SLED stands for State, Local, and Education. These are solicitations issued by state governments, counties, cities, school districts, utilities, and higher education institutions — as opposed to federal agencies.
