    Description

    The Town of Nantucket ("Town"), through its Nantucket Water Department, invites qualified responders to submit bids for Landscaping Maintenance Services. This invitation for Bids ("IFB") is made in accordance with Massachusetts General Laws, Ch. 30B.

    Background

    The Town of Nantucket is located within the County of Nantucket. The Town functions under a Town Manager/Select Board form of government. The Select Board operates under a Charter and enacts policies intended to promote and enhance the general welfare of the Town. In addition to customary municipal operations, the Town operates a skilled nursing facility, a public school system, two wastewater treatment facilities, a housing department, and a solid waste facility.

    The Town of Nantucket is located 30 miles off the south coast of Cape Cod. It was settled in 1659 and incorporated in 1671. The Town has an annual year-round population of approximately 18,000 and up to 65,000 seasonal residents. The island is 14 miles in length and 3 1/2 miles wide. Nantucket is comprised of residential, commercial, and large tracts of undeveloped land, including a state forest. Transportation routes include a busy airport, a thriving seaport, and a locally maintained road system which includes urban, suburban and rural road systems.

    Evaluation Criteria

    • Overview

      The Nantucket Water Company is seeking a qualified landscape company to provide landscape maintenance services for the properties located at 1 Milestone Road, and 43 Polpis Road. Spring and Fall clean up, fertilization, mowing and trimming, and ongoing garden maintenance.

    • Workers' Compensation

      Workers' Compensation, covering the obligations of the CONTRACTOR in accordance with applicable Workers' Compensation or Benefits law.

    • Commercial General Liability

      Commercial General Liability Insurance on an occurrence basis with a combined single limit of not less than $1 million.  Coverage is to include premises and operations, coverage for liability of subcontractors.  The policy shall contain an endorsement stating that the aggregate limits will apply separately to the work being performed under this Agreement.

      • Removal of all leaves and debris from lawn and beds

      Insurance Required: Bidder shall obtain and maintain at its expense and from insurance companies of a Best Rating of A or better, which are licensed to do business in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, insurance as set forth below.

      Bidder must provide a complete list of municipal customers who it provided services in the past three (3) years. Reference information must include Company/Government Name, Contact Person, Current Phone Number, Email Address and Date(s) of Service(s).

      Poor References may be a basis for determining that a bidder is not responsible.

    • Fertilizer License (required)

      Bidders should provide proof of valid fertilizer licenses held by all individuals who may be applying fertilizer as part of this contract.  Proof of successful completion of the requirements to be licensed will be accepted, provided no fertilizer will be applied until proof of licensure is provided to the Town.  Bidders who do not have a fertilizer license must provide a written intent to obtain a Fertilizer License when the class is made available through the Town of Nantucket's Natural Resources Department.

      The undersigned Bidder hereby acknowledges receipt of the Best Management Practices for Fertilizer Use on Nantucket Island found under Exhibit B and has familiarized himself or herself with the legal requirements related to fertilizer use and application on Nantucket Island and agrees to follow these requirements to the best of his or her ability.
