Mt. San Antonio College seeks proposals for the purchase, delivery, and installation of a large temporary tension fabric tent structure to support its Basic Fire Academy training. The turnkey project includes a durable aluminum framework and waterproof fabric designed to withstand harsh weather. Proposals must include installation and future disassembly costs.
The Mt. San Antonio Community College District (District) is soliciting proposals from qualified contractors for the furnishing, delivery, installation, and commissioning of a temporary tension fabric tent structure to support District operations and program activities.
The proposed structure shall consist of a 25-meter by 30-meter by 4-meter clear-span tent system, including a 25-meter by 5-meter white mid-kit A-frame gable section. The tent framework shall be constructed of hard-pressed extruded structural aluminum alloy and incorporate hinged (pivot) baseplates at all vertical support locations. The structure shall include all manufacturer-required roof and sidewall stabilization bracing necessary to provide a complete, safe, and code-compliant installation.
The tent roof and sidewall materials shall consist of double-coated blackout white PVC polyester fabric with a minimum weight of 850 g/m² (25 oz/yd²). Fabric shall be 100 percent waterproof, ripstop treated, ultraviolet resistant, and corrosion resistant. Long sidewalls shall be solid white PVC-coated fabric panels, while short ends shall be equipped with solid white PVC-coated fabric curtain panels.
The tent shall be securely anchored utilizing 42-inch industrial-grade galvanized double-head earth stakes at all baseplate locations. The completed structure shall be engineered to safely withstand sustained wind speeds ranging from 100 km/h (62 mph) up to 140 km/h (86 mph) and shall utilize fabric materials tested to maintain structural and material integrity within a temperature range of -30°C to +70°C (-22°F to 158°F).
Proposals shall include all labor, materials, equipment, transportation, supervision and incidentals necessary to provide a complete and operational installation. In addition, proposers shall provide a separate line-item cost for a future one-time disassembly of the tent structure, including removal of all fabrics, framework components, anchoring systems, and accessories, and placement of all components into a District-owned steel shipping container for on-site storage.
The District seeks a turnkey solution that provides a durable, weather-resistant, and safe temporary structure that meets the performance requirements outlined in these specifications.
Mt. San Antonio College (Mt. SAC) offers a full-time Basic Fire Academy during both the Fall and Spring semesters. The Academy is a regionally accredited training program designed to prepare students for careers in the fire service through a combination of classroom instruction, hands-on skills development, and practical training exercises.
A significant portion of the program is conducted at the College’s dedicated outdoor fire training facility, where students receive instructor-led training in the operation and use of firefighting equipment, tools, and related appurtenances. These activities are essential to meeting State Fire Marshal curriculum requirements and providing students with realistic emergency response experience.
Due to the intensive nature of the training conducted at the outdoor facility, the site is subject to continual wear and exposure to weather, firefighting operations, water application, equipment movement, and daily academy activities. To ensure the training environment remains safe, functional, and representative of professional fire service standards, periodic maintenance, repair, and facility improvements are necessary. This project is intended to support the continued operation of the Fire Academy by addressing facility needs and maintaining the infrastructure required for high-quality firefighter training.
Provide labor and equipment required for complete installation at College's Parking Lot M site.
NOTE:
The District is purchasing the tent structure as a permanent asset and intends to take full ownership upon completion of installation and final acceptance. This procurement is for the purchase, delivery, installation, and commissioning of a new tent structure and is not a rental, lease, temporary installation, or event-use agreement. All materials, components, accessories, warranties, and related appurtenances furnished under this contract shall become the property of the District upon acceptance of the work.
