    Description

This Contract is for the construction of pathways and fiber optic cable from Hamburg Station to the North Avenue Maintenance Facility, to create communications system connectivity and between locations of instrument houses, traction power substations, station equipment cabinets and other facilities with the Operations Control Center (OCC). Currently there is an existing 84 strand fiber optic cable connecting all the locations. This cable has reached its end of life and a new cable must be installed to maintain this connection. There is an existing 144 strand fiber optic cable installed aerially on the catenaries. It shall be the responsibility of the Contractor to splice into the 144 strand cable with drop cables, install the drop cables through pathways to the locations, terminate the strands, and test end to end strand. The existing fiber optic cable shall remain in place and remain in use by MTA as a backup to the new cable. Reconfiguration of the existing fiber and equipment is not part of this Contract.
