The City of Ormond Beach Public Works Department is seeking bids to remove and dispose of wet or dry expended lime sludge from the south storage basin located at the Water Treatment Plant (298 Tomoka Avenue, Ormond Beach, Florida) on a regular basis (five days per week for 52 weeks per year). The annual estimate is 300 tanker truck loads of lime. The City is currently disposing of lime in a wet manner but could potentially dispose of lime in a dry manner in the future. Intent would be to only utilize one manner of disposal at a time. “Wet” for the purposes of this bid is to be considered material not processed by the Centrifuge unit and is as it will sit in the treatment plant’s lagoon. “Dry” for the purposes of this bid is to be considered material that has been dried in the sludge lagoons or has been processed by a Centrifuge unit, with a final moisture content ranging between 35% and 65% solids. The Lime sludge in the basin is a by-product of the lime softening process and includes the centrifuge byproduct (centrate), the filter backwash clear well (filter waste), and the Clairicone blowdowns.
