The Village and Town of Waddington will update their joint Local Waterfront Revitalization Program to guide appropriate development along their St. Lawrence River waterfront. The Update will address community challenges including becoming more resilient to water level changes, identify potential uses for underutilized land and potential projects to create a vibrant waterfront, improve connectivity, and promote economic investment and revitalization of Waddington's downtown and waterfront. This project involves the preparation of and update to the existing Joint Town and Village of Waddington Local Waterfront Revitalization Program (LWRP), pursuant to the provisions of New York State Executive Law, Article 42, and 19NYCRR Parts 600-603, for the Town and Village of Waddington in St. Lawrence County. Completion of this project may integrate preparation of a harbor management plan (HMP) as set forth in 19 NYCRR Part 603.3 and further described in guidelines prepared by the Office of Planning and Development. The Town and Village of Waddington are located on the St. Lawrence River and have approximately 11.5 miles of shoreline. The primary waterfront issues to be addressed in the LWRP update have been preliminarily identified as disinvestment and a decline in regional industry contributing to vacant storefronts, loss of regional industry, closures of storefronts, indicating the need for revitalization as well as shoreline resiliency.
