    Description

SCOPE OF WORK:The City of Fresno’s Department of Transportation/Fresno Area Express (hereafter referred to as FAX), seeks a professional consultant to provide Architectural and Engineering (A&E) services for the Reconnecting Communities Project. The Project is funded through a Reconnecting Communities Grant and will include planning and preliminary design activities for the areas around the landing pads of a planned pedestrian bridge that will cross California State Route 99. The bridge will connect Parkway Drive and Roeding Park. The project will focus on enhancing the pedestrian experience and expanding transportation options for residents. This will be completed through the development of concepts for pedestrian-enhancing elements and improving community connectivity. Bridging Documents will be developed for pedestrian bridge landing improvements, incorporating elements such as innovative lighting schemes, urban greening initiatives, and culturally resonant art installations to enhance aesthetic appeal and community identity. Design concepts will prioritize accessible pathways, clear wayfinding signage, and integration with Roeding Park amenities to improve usability and visitor experience. The City of Fresno will complete an analysis of existing bus routes and ridership patterns near the pedestrian bridge to inform strategies to optimize service connectivity into Roeding Park. Bus connection roadways into Roeding Park design concepts will need to be developed that focus on optimizing bus stop location, designing clear pathways for seamless pedestrian and transit interactions, and integrating amenities such as shelters, and drivers’ restrooms to enhance comfort and convenience.
