    Description

The City of Miami Beach (“City”), in collaboration with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) Local Agency Program (LAP) and Florida Safe Routes to School, seeks to enhance transportation alternatives and safety in the vicinity of Miami Beach Senior High School (MBSHS). MBSHS is the only high school within City limits and also serves as a magnet program to students from other communities. This project intends on enhancing the existing pedestrian and bicycle network to promote the use of bicycling and walking as viable methods of transportation to MBSHS. The project will add signage, restore pavement markings and enhance signalization thereby increasing safety and support the City’s modal vision. The scope of this project includes clearing and grubbing; sod installation; concrete sidewalk, curb, and gutter removal and replacement; milling and resurfacing; utility adjustments; guiderail installation; the installation of detectable warning surfaces; signing and pavement marking, including bike lanes; and signalization, including conduits, signal cables, pull and splice boxes, electrical power infrastructure, signals poles, mast arm assemblies, pedestrian detectors and signals, loop assemblies, and beacons. All project improvements are located within the existing road right-of-way (ROW).
