Services provided through this initiative include, but are not limited to, the following: Language Support Services: Offer language access, translation, and interpretation services. Housing Support: Establish relationships with local community stakeholders, including landlords, hotel owners, community members, shelters, churches, colleges, Department of Social Services (DSS) and other agencies that provide housing. Health Services: Cultivate relationships to provide referrals for health services, including mental health; develop relationships with local doctors, hospitals and therapists that serve (or would serve) the new American population; and include health service providers in relevant discussions, such as roundtables, to facilitate and expand services. Social/Human Services: Provide clients with information on accessing various social and human services, including DSS programs and public benefits; schedule appointments as needed; and share details about local food shelters and pantries. English Language Support: Facilitate referrals for English language courses; share and have access to ONA’s free mobile English language learning programs; and create and maintain a referral list with free local English language courses, including dates and times of classes. Transportation Support: Provide referrals for access to transportation. Canadian Resources: Connect clients to providers, including legal assistance and social services in Canada.
