INVITATIONThe City of Sunnyvale (City) is seeking proposals from qualified and experienced providers to establish one or more third-party on-call professional services contracts for the Department of Public Safety for hazardous materials fire code plan review and inspection services on an as-needed basis. Service scope is for the Applied Materials project located at 1010 E. Arques Avenue, Sunnyvale, CA. The number of Contractors selected will be at the sole discretion of the City and may be augmented, reduced, or terminated at any time. A contract award is not a guarantee of work.B. PROJECT DESCRIPTION AND BACKGROUND1. DescriptionThe Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety is seeking qualified firms to provide on-call technical support services for hazardous materials compliance with applicable codes, ordinances, laws, and regulations. Services include construction-related hazardous materials fire code plan review, field inspection, documentation of findings, permit system updates, meeting support, and technical consultation to City staff and applicants. The project consists of a new 3-story semiconductor research & development building with a total area of approximately 600,000 ft2. The building consists of a utility level, a sub-fab level, and a cleanroom level. Other buildings onsite include a Guard House, Decon Building, Fire Pump House, Substation Expansion, Emergency Power Generation System, and Weather Protection structures.2. BackgroundThe Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety is seeking qualified firms to provide on-call technical support services for hazardous materials compliance with applicable codes, ordinances, laws and regulations. Services include review of new construction related plans and construction-related field inspections.Plan review services are generally provided remotely unless the City directs otherwise. Field inspection services shall be provided on-site at project locations. Contractor personnel may also be required to attend meetings, coordinate with City staff and applicants, and work at City offices when necessary to provide public counter, plan review, or inspection support.To address increased service demands, the Department of Public Safety utilizes on-call contractors to supplement staff resources and provide third-party plan review and inspection services that are consistent, readily available, and meet the City’s high customer-service standards. On-call contractor staff may be required to work both remotely and on-site, as directed by the City. Plan check services are provided remotely at the consultant’s place of business. Field inspections are supported by the contractor providing staff on-site to work directly with the City’s customers.
