    Description

The purpose of this project is to design an active transportation plan that will guide the transformation of Ovid’s downtown and lake connections into a more active, resilient, sustainable, and economically vibrant community. The town and village are well centered in the region to provide an economic and tourism hub to Seneca and Cayuga Lakes. The study and resulting plan should focus on a comprehensive active transportation network that compliments the existing local travel patterns. The plan should connect residents, workers, and tourists to important destinations, improving the economic vitality of the region, connect with regional active transportation facilities, and provide for a more walkable and accessible downtown. A successful plan will also consider other non-traditional road uses in considerations such as buggies and farm equipment when designing these corridors. Interested firms must request a copy of the Request for Proposals (RFP) package from GTC by contacting June McIlquham, Senior Transportation Planner, at (585) 252-1268 or by email at jmcilquham@gtcmpo.org. The RFP Package will be made available on Monday, March 2, 2026.
